Studio philosophy

We spend longer on the drawings than most builders spend on the build. That is where a house is decided.

Fluted stone columns in raking light, the shadows falling in even bands
FIG. 02 — Fluted Moleanos, sample2:3

Aurelia is a design-build studio for people who would rather wait for the right stone than accept the available one.

We take on a small number of homes each year, mostly between Jupiter and Boca Raton. Each one has a single site lead from the first survey to the last walk-through, and a set of drawings coordinated so tightly that very little is decided on the day.

We work alongside architects, not around them. Our part is to make their drawings buildable, then build them without dilution: the shadow gap stays a shadow gap, and the stone runs the way it was drawn.

The sample room

Stone, timber, metal and plaster we return to. The stone arrives before the contract does. We want you to hold it first. Select a sample for origin, finish and lead time.

A-401 — ProcessSix phases · one site lead

Six phases. None of them rushed.

Most of the work that makes a house last happens before anyone breaks ground. Our process is weighted accordingly.

  1. Phase 01

    Listen

A walk of the site, the brief in your words, and an honest read of what the ground and the code will allow.

    2–4 weeks
  2. Phase 02

    Draw

Construction drawings coordinated with your architect, down to the joint lines and the outlet heights.

    8–16 weeks
  3. Phase 03

    Sample

Full-size mock-ups of the stone, plaster and joinery that matter most. You touch everything before it’s ordered.

    4–8 weeks
  4. Phase 04

    Cost

An open-book cost plan, line by line, with the allowances named rather than buried.

    3–5 weeks
  5. Phase 05

    Build

One site lead from slab to keys. A written weekly report and a standing Friday walk-through.

    Project-dependent
  6. Phase 06

    Keep

A handover manual for the house, and return visits at three, twelve and twenty-four months.
